The Wag hotel is not just another luxury hotel in San Francisco, it is for dogs only.

The 35,000 square foot, 3-story hotel includes 238 rooms and suites as well as a swimming pool, playground, dog run and pet boutique. All these have been “specially-designed” for the urban pet lifestyle.

With over 120,000 licensed dogs in San Francisco, the opening of Wag hotel offers a better alternative to their owners than the usual kennels. The hotel claims to offer a consistent lifestyle filled with healthy eating, quality playtime, around-the-clock attention and a safe environment, while the pet owners are away. The hotel is open 24/7, 365 days per year.

The rates for the basic rooms are US$30 per night, while the suites can go up to US$85 per night.

A well-balanced diet has been developed by professionals and the guests can have private swimming classes or spa services such as pedicures, facials, massage and grooming.

All rooms are designed to be warm and welcoming. The sizes range from small, medium, large, to mini-suites and luxury suites. Luxury suites are roomier and include raised bedding, artwork and a flat-screen television. The suites have a webcam or “wag cam” so the clients can remotely see their pets via the internet.

The lobby of the hotel has a store that offers hard-to-find brands of clothing accessories; edible items, toys and bedding for dogs.
